Being an artist and being a Christian is one of the greatest joys of my life. I love to paint, draw, look at the beauty of God’s magnificent creation in new and fantastic ways. Isn’t it amazing how God gives each person exactly what they need in the measure of talent, endurance, wisdom and heart that they need to not only fulfill His will for their lives but to give them a life that is wonderful, full and joyous beyond imagination.
Take Stephen Hawkins for an example, he developed a degenarative disease at an early age which subsequently lead to his current wheel-chair bound, paraplegic state. But before he was born God gave him and incredible mind, one he has used to think beyond the boundaries of the everyday and even beyond the realm of well bodied scientists, to contemplate, understand and verbalize incredibly complex and thought provoking astorphysical theories. God gave him that mind and he has made a good use of his life with the mind God gave him.
Dennis Swanberg a Christian comedian once witnessed an incident at a church in which a man’s legs fell partially through the ceiling during a service. His discription of the incident from his point of few left me rolling on the floor with laughter. God gave Dennis the ability to see things in very humorous ways that those of us without that talent would never contemplate.
It is just such a wonderful God we serve who instills in each of us as whether, painter, illustrator, photographer, muralist or sculptor the talent, drive, creativity and spirit we need to weild our craft. We serve an amazing God.
Amen. And I second the endorsement of Dennis Swanberg – he’s one of the funniest comedians around – Christian or secular.
