God has opened the doors of my home as an art ministry. Over the years, as I have taught a small number of students-beginners and advanced artists, I have learned that most come to my studio for art therapy more than for art lessons. Several years ago God led me to the home where I now live. It is an 1890's Victorian home with four large bedrooms and another room which can be used for one guest. From the beginning I felt there was a larger purpose for my having been given the house to take care of. It has been a financial strain on me to keep the house. I am 70 years old and when sales for my paintings stopped because of the economic down in our country, God showed me that it as a financial drain for me to continue doing shows and other things in an attempt to market my paintings. It came to me that my that my greatest art treasure was/is my house. In January, I built a web site; " http://womenofgodartretreat.net." I and opened my home to Christian women. In April I had my first guests and next week will welcome three or four more Christian artists. They are among eight prayer warriors who are now praying for my health to get better (I am undergoing tests to find the cause of my problems.) They are claiming God's victory in this matter and their faith has lifted me up when I was becoming sad. I do believe God has given me a new ministry. It is something I do naturally, mentoring women, not only as an artist but as a Godly women.
I found this site today and wanted to share my experiences with others. Sincerely, Ann Hamilton

The time has come for overt Christian Art.
That is visual art that ministers with an obvious Biblical message. I have started a Christian visual artist group in Charleston SC to encourage that very thing. I am praying about a way to help us display our art in public - not just online. Often we are shunned or not accepted by the board or the jury. God can do all things.

"Christian" artwork does frequently include scriptural references. I would suggest however..... First the word then the work. For the many of us who have been inspired by a particular passage, a miracle, a parable, we recognize the power of the Holy Spirit who guides and directs our efforts........ to communicate often in ways beyond our own capabilities. While some may pray for that" happy accident" that would enrich the "experience" for both the artist and the viewer, we would pray that it not be an accident but the very hand of the Master be placed upon what we do: That he is most pleased as the giver of All gifts. Pleased enough that He takes a an active part in the entire process from the very beginning. milt wear, witness group

I have always had scripture on my website that displays my artwork, but just recently I have begun to add scripture to some photographs I have taken. I believe adding scripture to my artwork opens up a whole new purpose and reason for what I do. By the way, I like this site.
